Before becoming a designer with Oscar de la Renta, Miranda studied Fashion Merchandising at University of Tampa in Florida.[1] She specialized in Fashion Merchandising and began to design under the Xango brand in 1995. Three years later she put her own name to her leading edge menswear designs. Having established herself as a menswear designer, in 2000 Miranda created City People, a range of clothes for women. City People has a sexy style, with embroidery, fitted trousers and transparent blouses.[3] Her 2001 collection was inspired by the works of the Colombian novelist Gabriel García Márquez.[4]
Francesca Miranda launches in 1994 a menswear casual line geared to department stores in Colombia. In a short year, and in recognition of her work, she is invited for the first time to participate Colombiamoda, Colombia’s most relevant and important fashion industry trade show. She continues to nurture herself in the fashion world and in 1997 inaugurates her first boutique with her signature label, ‘Francesca Miranda’ with a menswear line. In the year 2000 she expands to womenswear when opening her flagship store in Barranquilla, Colombia where she sells both men and women’s Pret A Porter, and Evening wear lines.
The label FRANCESCA MIRANDA is established as a designer brand that covers both universes: men and women. She becomes one of the top designers in Colombia with most international projection. In 2001, she receives from Fashion TV Paris, an award for best runway during Miami Fashion Week. That same year, opens her second store in Colombia’s capital, Bogota; a cosmopolitan metropolis. Four years later, she opens her first Central American store, in her native San Salvador

At the moment her collections are represented in the United States and Canada by Group 868 Inc showroom in New York. In 2010, alongside Group 868 Inc showroom, she launched her first bridal collection with excellent response in the US and Canadian markets. Francesca had done bridal before, but only custom made gowns.
Also, in November of 2010, Francesca opened her third store in Colombia in the city of Cartagena, Colombia’s most recognized tourism destination. In her stores you can find both men and women’s collections, exotic leather handbags for women, decorative pieces for the home and Colombian art pieces. Her passion for art and design has led her to explore Colombian craftsmanship and incorporate into her brand.
Francesca’s designs are not only catwalk pieces, they are portable collections that without losing her exquisite taste for refinement, chic and attention to detail, combine feminine sensuality with comfort. This designer’s international potential and vision has made her stand out. [5] Miranda currently sells her iconic looks in Dubai, Russia, USA, France, United Kingdom, Colombia, Panama and El Salvador.
